| Meet Darlene  With Great Appreciation At each birth I attend, I am humbled by the power of a woman's body, working in sync with her child within, to bring that child who is within her, out. I am fascinated that a baby only needs the warmth and nourishment of his mother to be happy and grow. I treasure the opportunity to witness my clients' transformation from Woman to Mother, and I am honored that these women allow me into their circle and trust in my presence and abilities to support them during this very sacred time in their lives. My Professional Background After having my children, I worked with my husband in our business for 6 years. By 2007, I decided to make a change and find more fulfilling work. This led me to train and certify as a birth doula and Happiest Baby on the Block instructor. In addition, I became a certified personal development and business coach, the U.S. Southwest birth doula trainer for Birth Arts International, a Hypnobabies Instructor, Hypno-Doula, and I am the founder of the Central Texas Birth Network. Given the professional experience I've gained along with my background in business, I created the Savvy Doula Blog to help women begin their own birth businesses. Empowering Birth Support for Body, Mind, and Spirit I bring an eclectic array of interests and experiences to my birth work. As a Reiki practitioner I offer an added modality of physical support during labor and birth. My interest and experience in macrobiotic nutrition and homeopathy, and my familiarity with other modes of holistic healing methods such as herbs, aromatherapy and flower essences helps clients seeking non-medical alternatives for diet and health matters. In addition, my training as a Professional Development Coach and EFT practitioner have been extremely valuable and helps me support a woman emotionally and mentally in a gentle, objective and loving way. My integrated approach to doula care has allowed me to support women in all three facets of Body, Mind and Spirit. And The Personal Stuff I am originally from Maui, Hawai'i and moved to Austin, Texas in 1995. It took me time to adapt from the culture shock, but I really enjoy living in Texas now. I currently live in Round Rock with my husband and two children, and when I'm not immersed in birth work and helping professionals expand their businesses, I spend time enjoying my children, learning new things, and appreciating all that I have in my life. | |
