The Inner Work of Building Your Doula Business
The Spiritual Aspect of Business
The word Spirit refers to the essence and vital life force in each and every one of us. When we connect to the essence of who we are, we feel awakened, alive, and we move through life with purpose.
When you focus on the spiritual aspect of yourself in relation to your business, here are questions to explore:
What is this passion I want to share with the world, and why do I want to share it?
What matters most to me in my personal life, and how must I create my business to be in
alignment with that?
What principles guide me through life? How do I integrate them into my business to uphold
my integrity when deciding on services to utilize, practices to adopt, and vendors and
clients I work with?
A coach can provide you with exercises to help you identify your values and guiding principles. In addition to integrating these into your business, these values and principles will also guide you in other areas of your life.
The Emotional Aspect of Business
By spending time on the spiritual aspect of your business and becoming aligned with what you believe to be important, you can then work on the emotional aspect of business. Questions to ask include:
What fears are preventing me from moving forward in my business?
How likely is it that what we fear will happen?
What could I potentially learn from that result?
How would that make me feel to learn that?
Exploring the emotions you experience provide you with clues about what is either helping you or preventing you from starting or growing your business. When you identify what is blocking you emotionally, a coach will help you to see a new perspective that will help you move forward. A coach will also celebrate those things which makes you feel good, which encourages you further.
Other questions to ask:
- What tasks in my business give me the greatest joy? How can I do more of that?
- What tasks in my business cause stress and anxiety? What can I do to lessen that?
Doing Inner Work around your business will help you as you tackle the Outer Work.
