Her scope of practice as a professional birth doula and Reiki Master follows:
Professional Birth Doula: Trained through ALACE (Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators) and Birth Arts International to assist women and birth partners during labor, birth, and postpartum. Provides information regarding the physiology of pregnancy and birth, suggestions for exercise, good nutrition, and ways to remain "low-risk". Explains informed-consent and informed-refusal, birthing rights, medical interventions, comfort measures for birthing, and birth options. Emotional and physical support is provided throughout labor and the birth.
Usui Reiki Master: Trained by an Independent Reiki Master Teacher who utilizes training materials from The International Center for Reiki Training. Reiki is a stress reduction and relaxation technique. Reiki practitioners do not diagnose conditions, nor do they prescribe substances or perform medical treatment, nor interfere with the treatment of a licensed physician. It is recommended that clients see a licensed physician or licensed health care professional for any physical or psychological ailments.
Insurance: Any services are paid by the client directly to With Heart and Hands. In general, insurance companies do not cover the services Darlene provides.
