Services For Expectant Moms

I offer a variety of services to support women and their partners during pregnancy and birth.

Birth and Hypno-Doula Services

I help women who want to have a natural childbirth experience. Most of my doula clients have taken my Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis classes or the Hypnobabies Home Study Course, but I also provide support to women who are not planning to use hypnosis during birth.

Prenatal and Postpartum Reiki Sessions for Mother and Baby

Reiki is a technique that promotes relaxation and stress reduction for both mother and baby during both the prenatal and postpartum periods. Reiki often also helps strengthen the energetic, emotional connection between mother and baby. Birth doula clients usually receive Reiki during labor as one of several measures for relaxation and comfort.

Reiki is also beneficial for clients on prescribed bedrest.

Happiest Baby on the Block Classes

Dr. Harvey Karp, a pediatrician from California, discovered that babies experience a "fourth trimester" during the first three months of life. During this time, babies systems are still immature, and many infants benefit by having their parents create a womb-like atmosphere for them for much of this fourth trimester. Dr. Karp created a system which he calls the "5 S's", five sequential actions that help to trigger a baby's "calming reflex." This method can calm a baby who is just starting to fuss, and it is also effective in helping to calm babies with colic.

Currently, the Happiest Baby method is taught only to doula clients.

Imagine what might happen if the majority of women emerged from their labor beds with a renewed sense of the strength and power of their bodies and their capacity for ecstasy through giving birth. When enough women realize that birth is a time of great opportunity to get in touch with their true power, and then they are willing to assume responsibility for this, we will reclaim the power of birth and help move technology where it belongs—in the service of birthing women, not as their master.
